Integrated Solutions Attends Res2008 in Las Vegas
The 22nd Annual Reservation Economic Summit (RES2008) & American Indian Business Trade Fair was held last week in Las Vegas, Nevada. Attendees Wayne Two Bulls, General Manager, and Deanna Buckles, Product Specialist were in attendance. Other attendees include American Indian entrepreneurs, tribal economic and business development decision-makers, tribal leaders, government and corporate buyers seeking Indian suppliers and contractors.
Keynote speakers such as Joe Garcia, President of the National Congress of American Indians, Margo Gray Proctor, President of The Horizon Companies, and Lance Morgan, President and CEO of Ho-Chunk, Incorporated were just some of the presenters at Res2008.
"To listen to Lance Morgan speak was such a great highlight of the conference for me" said Deanna Buckles. "If I learned anything about this man, it's his 'think big' ideas that are a definate inspiration. He is definately one of my heroes."
Mr. Lance Morgan was an attorney in the Indian Law Department of the law firm of Dorsey & Whitney before becoming the President and CEO of Ho-Chunk, Inc. Ho-Chunk, Inc., was the recepient of the "1999 Indian Country's 20 Effective Indian Economic Development Projects & Practices" that was awarded by the National Congress of American Indians. Ho-Chunk, Inc. was named one of the "500 Fastest Growing Small Businesses," by Inc Magazine in 2003.
"Standing in line I met another Wayne by chance and he happened to mention that the announcer just announced that a business was looking for a company that sold office supplies" surprised Wayne Two Bulls, General Manager of Integrated Solutions. Wayne sought out the announcer and soon was meeting with Jay Inouye of Freddie Mac. "He was able to squeeze in and get a brief meeting with Freddie Mac that definately has great possiblities for Integrated Solutions" said Mrs. Buckles.
Integrated Solutions had a great meeting with the Lithocore company about possible teaming opportunities. Founded in 2007, Lithocore, LLC is a small Engineering Consulting company that primarily focuses on Secure Systems Engineering for Government and commercial customers.
Integrated Solutions' first meeting was with the Department of Interior. They met with Rosalyn Worthan from the main office in Washington D.C. who uses a round robin approach to who she orders from to meet her goals for minority supplier diversity. "We are not solely required to order from Staples" she stated. "We can order from whomever meets our goals for supplier diversity and minority business enterprise development" she explained.
The company is still in the initial phase of its nine-year 8(a) participation. Integrated Solutions thanks Mark Sansaver from Enterprise Community Department of the Fort Peck Community College who helped fund part of the costs to attend Res2008. |
